Bad news for all you kop fans this was in the News of The World and various online news outlets this morning: Roy Hodgson says there is nothing more he can do to keep Fernando Torres at Liverpool Star striker Fernando Torres could well be on his way out of Anfield, according to new Reds' boss Roy Hodgson. There has been speculation over Torres' Liverpool future, ever since he said in March, "What is important is the club makes a big effort and brings great players that are above the quality of the squad." Despite signing Joe Cole last week and the assumption that Steven Gerrard will now stay at Liverpool, Hodgson has now indicated it is unlikely that 26-year-old Torres will stay at Anfield. Hodgson told the News of the World, "Unfortunately, I cannot do much more...His beef is with the club and not me. "Fernando's situation has nothing to do with me, he made that perfectly clear over the phone during the World Cup and when I met him face-to-face. "He knows what I would like to do with the club. He knows how much I value him. "But his issues are with what has gone on in the past rather than the future. If he has problems with the club for things in the past, it is difficult for me to dismiss that." Chelsea are thought to be prepared to offer up to £70million for Spanish hit man Torres, who has been outstanding in his three seasons at Liverpool, scoring an impressive 22 goals in an injury-plagued season last term, despite playing only thirty games Hope he stays in the EPL but not with Chelsea, hope City get him. Tevez and Torres up front Also apparently Torres' replacement would be Sergio Kun Aguero (; | |
