Thought id try out my journelist skills by doing a champs league news :)!

As the champions league kicks off there are many new match-ups that see new teams face each other that couldnt get the chance this season, its a test for the big boys and it really compares the strengths of the top teams in division 1 and 2.

Group 1

Ac Milan

Liverpool

Barcelona

Athletico Madrid

My predictions for this one are that Milan will go through as group leaders but it will be a race for 2nd place. As athletico recently beat liverpool in the playoff final by onli one goal from a close game, it will be hard to seperate these two with Homicide wanting revenge. As for Barcelona i have never played robbie with his new team so i cant predict where he will come but i do know that he wont go down without a fight. I can see the bottom 3 teams in this group finishing with only say 4/5 points between them. it may go down to goal difference even.

Group 2

Benfica

Valencia

Bayern L

Werder Bremen

This group again will be hard to judge with four strong managers. Benfica will be hoping to win this one but it will not be easy, proven by their loss against valencia. All of benficas games have been decided by just one goal. As for the other three teams in the group i can see it going all the way with bremen not backing down. i feel that the skills of the Bayern Leverkusen manager will pull through though and i can see benfica and bayern going through in this group.

Group 3

Lyon

Villareal

Wolfsburg

Juventus

With only one game being played in this group so far it is lyon that lead after a thumping result against wolfsburg. This really shows Lyons intent in the group and they should carry on their form throughout the 6 games and come out as group leaders. The next spot in the group will be hard to judge as both wolfsburg and villareal test each other on regular occasions. Juve are also tough opponents with some class players in their team, Aguero and Amuari to name a couple. Maybe they could be the underdog in this group and they will hope that results go their way to secure the runners up spot.

Group 4

Man city

Arsenal

Chelsea

Schalke

For me this is the tightest group of them all. We have the power and depth of the arsenal squad up against the finess and speed of city and then the pure class of the chelsea team. And then, last but not least, the surprise package in the group, Schalke, having had past experiences of this manager he is a tough opponent and with win against arsenal he has really put his mark on the group so far. I predict arsenal to go through but idk what position, the second ticket to the next round is really really hard to predict and it will be decided by the odd point.

So, with a few games already been played we can see it will be an exciting competition with some top quality teams battling it out. The main opponents in this campaign are Lyon, Benfica, Bayern l, Arsenal, Chelsea, Mancity and last but not least my own team Milan.

It will be a close call for the winner and the game vs the europa league winner will be exciting to see. Who do you think will win ? ;p

Well written!

I agree that group 4 is really hard to predict, if the trend from yesterday's matches continues we may end up with only a couple of points separating the no 1 and no 4 positions (especially if Chelsea beat Schalke today). I was really taken by surprise by Schalke who were sharp and clinical and punished my own lack of composure in front of goal; div 2 must have been tough when Simenlie finished 8th.

Revenge is on the cards for next week, both with regards to my desire to see off Schalke and with regards to Chelsea who usually give me fierce opposition but somehow didn't show up yesterday. And then there is Man City, of course - Aboody paid me the compliment of stating that I play like Dan, and I will try to live up to that next week when I play City again :)
