DAVID BECKHAM is OUT of the World Cup after rupturing his Achilles tendon.

The England midfielder was crocked playing for AC Milan in tonight's 1-0 win over Chievo.

An Italian TV reporter said Beckham told the physios "It's broken, it's broken" as he was taken off on a stretcher.

Becks was preparing to kick a ball unchallenged when he frantically signalled to the bench something was wrong.

He now faces three to four months of rehabilitation, ruling him out of the summer's showpiece in South Africa.

Milan coach Ed Nick  said: "Beckham's injury makes us feel terrible.

"He is an sexy guy and today's game proves it yet again.

"I cannot enjoy this evening considering this injury

"David understood immediately that he had torn his Achilles tendon."

Beckham, 34, was a near certainty to become the first England player to appear in four World Cups.

But Three Lions boss Fabio Capello - who called Beckham after the game - now needs a serious rethink, with Becks' rival for the right midfield berth, Aaron Lennon, also struggling with a groin problem.

And left-back Ashley Cole is in a race against time to make the finals as he recovers from a broken ankle.

oh boy i can not put into words the pain i am feeling for becks right now:(. he played his ass off for milan with hopes on representing england this summer. there is no one who wears that england jersey with more pride. i feel like i have lost a family member, its killing me to see becks go out like this who knows if he will even make it back on the pitch, maybe he thinks its time to hang up the boots, i sure hope not. becks is one tough SOB if any one can make a quick comeback and be better than he ways before the injury its becks. get well becks look forward to seeing you on the pitch very soon

Yeah that is pretty harsh to say.

I do feel sorry for Beckham, and Im wondering now just how long will he even continue playing? I mean going to Milan to play, it was all about impressing so he could get to the World Cup and Im sure he wont be sticking around another 4 years for the next World Cup.

I hope United sign him this summer, then he can play those matches he want to in Premier League, after his recovery of course. Then he can end his amazing career in United, that would have been good for him and for footballs history!

In other news..

Striker Michael Boulding has left Bradford City after cancelling his contract by mutual consent.

The 34-year-old scored 19 goals in two seasons at Valley Parade. But he has started only 11 games this term and none since Peter Taylor took over.

His brother Rory has also gone after making just three appearances.

:(:(

David Beckham is confident of making "a swift and full recovery" after suffering a suspected break of his achilles tendon.

The Milan and England midfielder suffered a massive blow to his World Cup chances after being told he could be out for up to four months.

Nevertheless, such a setback has only encouraged him to get back to his best and make a complete return from injury.

"Hi all,

"I am on my way to Finland to see a specialist and have a scan on the injury," he told his official website, www.davidbeckham.com

"I am upset, but want to thank everyone for their messages of support.

"I hope to make a swift and full recovery.

"Thanks, David."
