Oh btw, in order to know whose playing against who in the second round and so on, I checked it on ESPN, theres this thing that simulates the world cup according the teams you are chosing. So yes, it's how the world cup would be if my results are correct. It's not something I just made

I have to wave the Danish flag in this forum: I feel confident that Denmark will qualify alongside the Netherlands instead of Cameroon. They did win their qualifying group in front of both Portugal and Sweden, after all, with victories in their away games both in Lisbon and Stockholm despite tons of injuries to key players. As much as I like the vibe and energy of Cameroon, they just seem to make some crazy slip-ups once in a while that a well-organized team like Denmark can exploit. If Denmark progress from the group stage, they might come up against Italy. It is likely too strong an opponent - but we will still be proud that we made it through

Italy too old, Spain, good going forward, poor at the back Argentina - no concistency(dark horses0 Brazil - Couple of flair players dont make a team England - Would love to see them win it,but we dont have the grit we used to have. You can only play Gerrard or Lampard,my money is on Gerrard as he's a complete player. With Downing on the left, hopefully Young on the right and Crouch and Rooney up front.I would feel confident, would even put money on it. All being said,i cannot wait for THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH to begin!

Aboody, you are right on the mark about England, we don't have a winning culture the way the Germans and Italians do. But football and the mentality around it has changed here due to the influx of overseas players and managers, and Capello is the best manager I have known England have.
Frankly, I'm not really all that interested in the National team so I don't particularly have my hopes up - though of course I do like to see them do well. I just hope it's a good tournament, they are so often a bit of let down.
Maybe I'll go with Peter and the Danish team.....remember 1992? They can even win tournaments they don't qualify for!!

Garney: Yeah, that win in 1992 was really a lucky fluke. All of the players were called back from summer holidays when we entered the tournament on behalf of Yugoslavia. But it is easier for smaller teams like Denmark and Greece to win the European Championship. When it comes to the world cup, you almost always have four of the traditional strong teams with a winning mentality in the semis - although I would love to see that change, e.g. with an African side doing really well.

Hey guys. Glad to be on board and thought i would weigh in on this one. I agree with most that Italy does not have much chance in this WC due to age. I need to see more of a team effort from England before i can pick them to best France in the Quarters.
My pick is the favorite...Spain. How can you pick against a team that has most of it's best players playing together most of the year (Barcelona and R.M.). . Torres....Villa....Silva....WOW! They have a bad taste in their mouth from the embarassing loss at the Confederation Cup so I think it will be a long day for Italy (if they make it that far) and a unfavorable match up for Germany(if the U.S. doesn't knock them off).

Oh yes and replying to the topic. I put Italy over Spain and Brazil over England because I think Brazil owes us a World Cup. They played really bad in the last WC so I think they're gonna win this one. Italy over Spain was simple, Spain is young. A team full of young players cant do it all ( Yes, Puyol has experience, but you cant win with only 1 experienced player). On the other side, Italy has experience, which to me, is more important than skill. But hey, it's my fantasy WC, make yours xD
